An Open Letter To Mike Ashley

Dear Mike,

First up, you need to understand this is written by a football fan. So I’m not some lunatic activist with an agenda against you personally.

The arguments for and against Chris Hughton remaining as manager of Newcastle United Football Club aren’t complex. He did sterling work getting you lot back into the Premiership. But you and some others feel he is somewhat lacking to take the Club forward.

History will judge that decision, naturally.

Moving forwards there is the issue of the next manager that you appoint.

Alan Pardew’s name has been bandied around endlessly today. If I can be candid Mike, this isn’t a name that matches the ambition hinted at in the statement you made on the official site.

I’m unprepared to niggle away at Pardew’s reputation. It is I think fair comment that a few West Ham fans may still hold a candle for the guy, but in a poll on our site today the public actually gave Roy Chubby Brown, Ant & Dec, Gazza and Chuck Norris more votes than Alan Pardew.

Mind you; if you and Chubby had bonded over a Blackjack table, this letter might have been a whole lot dafter!

Perhaps the Pardew candidacy is a media red herring, but whatever decision you make Newcastle United fans deserve more than your reign at the helm of Newcastle Football Club has delivered.

It’s not my job to advise you what to do.

But if I were allowed to suggest just one thing it’s – stop running that football club which so very many have such a huge emotional investment in – like an Up To 70% Off Shoe Shop.

Kind Regards,

Escapini
