Chelsea are chasing one of the latest talents to come out of Brazil in Paulo Henrique Ganso. The player currently plays for Santos, who are involved in the Copa Libertadores, South America’s Champions League.
No doubt Carlo Ancelotti will have his performances watched during this championship more closely to provide further evidence that the player can be a hit in the Premier League.
A tall, elegant, left-footed number 10, Ganso is considered an automatic choice for Brazil after only one game for the national side. His fast track to the Brazilian first team has been hampered recently by injuries but he should be ready for the Copa Libertadores which could provide the stage to gain a place back in the national side.
BBC correspondent Tim Vickery believes the player has what it takes to be a success; “No doubt about it, the talent is there. This is a player who is strong in possession, with the vision to see the killer pass and the technique to play it. I am optimistic that Paulo Henrique Ganso can meet these challenges”.
It is only a matter of time before the top clubs come in for this promising Brazilian. Chelsea will want to get ahead of the mark, If not to sign the player this summer, then at the very least get an agreement with his club Santos to gain first option.
Ganso could cost between £20-30 million but Chelsea are prepared to meet the asking price. They will not want a repeat of the last time they chased a Brazilian hot prospect in Neymar. A £20 million bid was accepted but the player chose to stay in Brazil. It is believed Chelsea will pull out all the stops to avoid this happening again, and will be preparing a big contract with various clauses and bonuses to tempt the Brazilian away.
