Looks like an Italian Job for Kranj-car.
Tottenham Hotspur’s creative Croatian playmaker looks set to be on his way out of White Hart Lane, amidst rumours from Italian sources that the out-of-favour midfielder is set to join Italian giants Roma.
A number of clubs are reported to be interested in the services of Kranjcar, as Roma face stiff competition from Italian rivals Juventus and Napoli, as well as German outfit Werder Bremen.
It was rumoured that Niko’s father Zlatko (the Montenegro National Team Manager) spoke with Roma offi
cials on Sunday and could be the first of many signings this summer for the Serie A side as they look to get back towards the top of the European football pyramid once again.
The club became the first Italian club to be taken over by foreign owners last month. The new owner is Thomas DiBenedetto, a partner of the New England Sports Ventures group which owns Liverpool FC. Kranjcar was bought for a modest price, believed to be around £2m back in September 09, but the midfielder has struggled to break into Redknapp’s starting eleven this season. He is one of a number of fringe plays widely expected to leave Tottenham this summer to free-up space for any new additions.
It says a lot for Harry and his squad depth, that his 17th choice central midfielder is wanted by some of Europe’s big fish.
