Andre Gomes will have to return to Barcelona in the summer

Everton managed to pull off a triple swoop from Barcelona in the summer transfer window, with Lucas Digne, Andre Gomes and Yerry Mina all joining the club.

However, it appears that one of them may not remain at Goodison Park beyond the end of the current Premier League season.

Both Digne and Mina signed for the Toffees on permanent deals, however, Gomes only arrived on a temporary measure and reports in Spain are suggesting that it could be difficult for them to keep the Portuguese man.

According to Sport, the loan deal does not include an option for the player to convert his move from the Nou Camp into a permanent stay, so he will have to make a return to the Catalan giants.

However, there is also the idea that Barcelona no longer see him in their plans and could be prepared to offload him should they receive an acceptable offer.

The Verdict:

Gomes has only just been able to start figuring in the team, but he has already looked impressive in Marco Silva’s line-up, as well as endearing himself to the fans with his gestures off the pitch.

Everton could look to make an offer once his time at Goodison Park does come to an end, with Barcelona likely willing to offload the midfielder.

However, that will remain to be seen as the Toffees will want to reserve judgement on adding Gomes to the squad permanently at this moment and will want to keep a close eye on how well he performs over the year.
