There’s absolutely no doubting that Andrew Robertson has been the best left-back in the Premier League over the last 12 months. Given the form of Marcelo at Real Madrid, the Scottish defender is probably the best left-back in the world right now, but these Liverpool fans have been claiming he’s the Premier League POTS so far.
I'd argue strongly that the Premier League Player of the Season so far is Virgil van Dijk. Probably by some distance actually.

No one is saying that Andrew Robertson isn’t a sublime footballer. But to be claiming he’s been the best in the Premier League this season is some stretch. The claims come after Empire of the Kop, a Liverpool fan account on Twitter, claimed that Virgil van Dijk has been the Player of the Season, to which a number of Reds responded with the verdict that if anyone deserves it then it’s Andrew Robertson.
The Scottish left-back left Hull back in summer 2017 for Liverpool after going down with the Tigers, but since he made the switch he’s gone from strength to strength and now looks like one of the best value for money transfers that Liverpool have ever made with his price tag of a tidy £7 million. There’s no question about it that Robertson will feature in the team of the season come May, but for him to scoop the main award for best player is certainly a stretch.

The Kopites are standing by their bold claims and would love to see their industrious Scot be rewarded for his efforts and follow in Mo Salah’s footsteps next season.
