Andriy Yarmolenko admits talking to Manuel Pellegrini about playing time

West Ham United have had an abysmal start to their Premier League campaign despite having spent almost £100million on new additions this summer.

And, according to a report by Zbirna, one of their latest arrivals has already spoken to Manuel Pellegrini about some concerns he has at the London Stadium outfit.

Andriy Yarmolenko, who joined the Hammers from Borussia Dortmund this summer, has yet to start a game in the Premier League, although he has made an appearance in every game so far, albeit coming off the substitutes bench.

Many would have felt the Ukraine international would have been one of the first names on the team sheet for the Irons, especially given the profile the 28-year-old has made for himself with his time in the Bundesliga and with Dynamo Kiev in his homeland.

Yarmolenko is thought to have already spoken with Pellegrini about his lack of starting opportunities, however, he has been told not to worry and stated himself that it would take a little time for him to adapt and get up to speed.

“I talked with him and he said that I do not need to worry that everything will be fine,” he told Zbirna.

“Do not forget that because of my injury, I missed the pre-season training. It takes a little time to fully understand what English football is like.”

The Verdict:

Yarmolenko’s omission from the side that starts the Premier League matches has been a little stranger, especially considering he was signed for a fairly large sum of money this summer.

However, with the £18million-rated winger’s admission, as per Transfermarkt, the fact that he has not had a pre-season with the Hammers has probably gone against him and Pellegrini will be looking to ease him into the side.

The Ukrainian could feature from the start following the latest international break and the Irons will need him to be on top form, as they meet Everton, Chelsea and Manchester United in their next three Premier League games.
