Arsenal supporters have raised their pints to the latest reports arriving in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening
The London Evening Standard reports that Gunners midfielder Aaron Ramsey is expected to sign a new five-year contract at the Emirates Stadium which will increase his salary to more than £100,000-a-week.
The 23-year-old has been one of the stars of the current season and has emerged from being regarded as a squad player to becoming one of Arsene Wenger’s main men.
Ramsey’s extension comes days after it was revealed that Per Mertesacker and Tomas Rosicky have penned new deals with the Gunners.
Interestingly, the Welsh international actually has two-years left on the contract signed in December 2012 but with 13 goals under his belt this season, the Gunners are clearly eager to tie him down to a longer deal with talks progressing well.
The former Cardiff City man has recently been sidelined with a thigh injury but he could make Wenger’s squad for their tricky trip to Bayern Munich next week.
Ramsey was often the victim of quips and jokes in the tavern during his poor run of form but he has certainly proven his doubters wrong with some brilliant performances as he finally looks to be over his broken leg that put back his career for so long.
