talkSPORT have a cracking story today for us here at the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed that Gareth Bale has now found himself on the radar of Italian giants Inter Milan.
What does seem strange is the fact that it has taken so long for Bale to be linked with the club he seems to destroy on a seemingly seasonal basis, yet the link is finally here.
The winger has long been rumoured to be on his way out of Tottenham and given the performances he has put in over the last couple of seasons that is not a huge shock. Now it seems that another club has joined the race with Luis Suarez – not the Liverpool forward but the advisor to Massimo Moratti and former Inter Milan player himself claiming to Spanish paper Marca that: “I have no doubt that after Messi and Cristiano, he is the most interesting player out there right now.”
“He always heads straight to the opposition’s goal. I’ve seen him take free-kicks, and he’s like Cristiano.
“I know my president well and if he could, he’d sign him for Inter. But he’s very expensive, isn’t he? £50m-£60m – that’s plain crazy.
“Aren’t we all going a bit crazy? How can Luka Modric cost £32m? Of course, I’d pay £50m for Bale before paying £40-£45m for Neymar.”
Of course Inter may want Bale and may even be able to afford him given the deep pockets of their owner but the question remains whether Bale would really be attracted to a team who are somewhat in transition.
