Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern excited about a loan return for Kevin de Bruyne next season may end up being disappointed, as Hannah Duncan of Metro reckons Borussia Dortmund are ready to bid big money for the Belgian.
The attack-minded midfielder was signed in 2012 from Genk, but was sent out on loan to Werder Bremen.
His impressive form in the Bundesliga has attracted the attention of the Champions League semi-finalists, who have reportedly already tabled a £14.5 million bid for his services.
It leaves Chelsea with an interesting decision to make, as they currently boast the likes of Eden Hazard, Juan Mata, Oscar, Victor Moses and Marko Marin all fighting it out for the same position, meaning de Bruyne would find regular first team football at Stamford Bridge difficult.
But at just 21-years-old, and having never been given an opportunity for the Blues, Roman Abramovich must decide whether to cash in now, or give the player the opportunity to show what he can do.
de Bruyne may be keen to make the switch to one of the Bundesliga’s top clubs, having impressed so much for Werder Bremen this season. The Belgian international has managed six goals and nine assists this season.
