There is drama here in the Football Transfer Tavern as the Daily Mail have claimed that incoming Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is eyeing a move for Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney this summer.
The Red Devils forward cannot seem to escape the constant speculation over his future and it seems that it is not set to stop anytime soon, given the Real Madrid boss elect has eyed the forward as someone he thinks could send his new side back to the top of La Liga.
Real of course are coming off the back of a disastrous season and have seen not only Barcelona win the La Liga title by a country mile but also lost the domestic cup to their local rivals Atletico Madrid and also saw transfer target Neymar choose their almighty rivals.
Rooney is seen as the ideal option for Ancelotti who has been a big fan of the forward since his time in charge of Chelsea where he of course saw Rooney up close.
The forward is believed to prefer a move to Chelsea over the option of moving abroad with his young family, yet Chelsea and Jose Mourinho do not seem to be keen on landing the player. The pursuit of Rooney further confirms that Gonzalo Higuian is set to join Arsenal and Los Blancos are on the hunt for a top replacement.
