The emergency loan window has kept us busy here in the Football Transfer Tavern this week and it seems that the Daily Mirror has a rumour that will keep us ticking over today.
Over a game of darts, we discuss the claims that Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp is looking to take a Tottenham Hotspurs player on loan this season – and it is not the forward we think.
Much has been made of the fact that Emmanuel Adebayor could well be making the move to Loftus Road for the season – yet Harry is eyeing up another forward altogether.
Just as we were discussing last week, young Spurs forward Harry Kane could well be set for a loan spell to the Championship, and Redknapp is at the front of the queue to take him.
The former Spurs manager spoke out about his hopes of landing Kane, and claimed that it could well prove a battle to get Tottenham to allow him to leave. He also confessed that Kane was someone he failed to land on deadline day.
Redknapp spoke about his desire for a forward and claimed: “I was going to take Harry on the deadline. I was going to take him that night when AJ looked like he was going to Palace.
“Now, I don’t know. Harry’s probably the third choice at Spurs now. Whether they’ll still loan him, I don’t know. They might do.
“Andy Johnson missed all of last season – is he going to stay fit? Bobby Zamora’s had problems too.
“That is the only area. Everywhere else I’m very happy with.”
As one of our punters notes, Redknapp certainly has a good chance of landing at least one of the Spurs forwards linked with a move to Loftus Road – yet given Kane has jumped ahead of Adebayor in the pecking order – given he hasn’t been banished – it might not be him.
Will Redknapp land Harry Kane for the season? Will he ever make it as a star man at Spurs? Let us know your thoughts below.
