The Sun have a cracker for us here in the Football Transfer Tavern today as they claim that Southampton are looking to bring in yet more high calibre players.
The club have a massive £30 million to spend this summer and have already pulled off the impressive capture of Lyon’s Croatian international defender Dejan Lovren.
Whilst it may not be the budget of a Chelsea or a Manchester United, for a club of that size, that is a huge amount of money and the Saints are looking to spend big under Mauricio Pochettino and move up the Premier League table next season.
The club have made a move for Valencia’s Argentine international Ever Banega and are willing to spend nearly £8 million on luring him to the club.
The player who has 17 international caps nearly joined Everton back in 2009 but the move fell through due to visa issues. Not only this, but the Saints are also considering a move for Celtic hitman Gary Hooper who they feel could bring some much needed goals to their frontline.
After landing Lovren, the South Coast club are keen to continue their summer spending and are more than willing to pay big money to bring players in that could ease the burden on current star frontman Rickie Lambert and also keep them in the top division.
Can Southampton land either of the high profile duo, Banega or Hooper, this summer? Rate this rumour below.
