The Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern finally have something to smile about…
After an impressive start to the season, Antonio Conte’s Chelsea have come off the rails somewhat over the last couple of weeks.
Without a Premier League win in 3, the Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been fearing for the future of Italian boss Antonio Conte.
Roman Abramovich has proven his ruthless streak in recent years, with the quick-fire sackings of managers including Roberto Di Matteo – and they were fearful that Conte might meet the same fate.
However, they have received a boost this morning as they flick through their morning papers in the Tavern – with the Telegraph offering them some encouragement for the rest of the campaign.
According to the Telegraph, Roman Abramovich is set to back Antonio Conte’s project – and is ready to fund a few major moves in the transfer market.
They report that Conte and Abramovich were willing to give Chelsea’s flops another chance to impress this season – but have been quick to point out that the hammer will fall on the playing staff should the Blues’ poor streak continue.
Interestingly, the Telegraph have noted that January is unlikely to be the time for major movement in the transfer market – with Chelsea’s Russian owner much more likely to fund a summer spending spree next year.
Whilst our landlord does feel that talks of a crisis at Chelsea are somewhat overstated – he does think that there is cause for concern.
The Chelsea fans in the Tavern have claimed that Chelsea’s defence is the side’s weak spot – and that it needs addressing immediately.
Interesting times ahead for Chelsea!
