Antonio Conte set to continue Chelsea revolution with major January overhaul

The news that the Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been waiting for…

After a disappointing few weeks, the Chelsea fans in the Tavern have been longing for Antonio Conte to crack the whip at Stamford Bridge.

A number of players at the club have struggled for months, and it would appear that the Italian has lost his patience with Chelsea’s flops.

According to the Sun, Conte is set to axe 5 Chelsea first team players in January, as he looks to continue his overhaul at the club.

They mention Oscar, Ivanovic, Matic, Fabregas and Cahill as the unlucky quintuple – as Conte looks to rid his side of mistake makers and inconsistency.

Ivanovic and Cahill were at fault during Chelsea’s 3-0 drubbing against Arsenal – with the pair looking stricken at the back when targetted by Arsenal’s technical gifted attack.

Fabregas has been somewhat of a passenger under Conte so far, and so his departure looks like a foregone conclusion – whilst Oscar has never really lived up to the hype that came with his acquisition.

Nemanja Matic is a different case, given his improved performances this year – and our landlord thinks that he stands the best chance of riding the storm at the Bridge.

Nonetheless, the Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are in total agreement with Conte. Serious changes need to happen at Stamford Bridge – and January represents the first available time for that to start.

He gave them a second chance this year – and they haven’t delivered.
