Antonio Conte should seek a reunion with this international midfielder this summer

As Chelsea go looking to retain their Premier League crown this season under Antonio Conte, all eyes will be on the Italian manager to see if he can indeed inspire them to glory once more after such an impressive first season.

The fiery former Italy and Juventus manager brought something to the Premier League last term we have not seen for some team, and he was a big part in the Blues romping to the title ahead of rivals Man City and Spurs.

This summer has seen the club frustrated somewhat in its attempts to add new faces though, and the ongoing Diego Costa saga remains something which fans here in the Tavern can’t quite get their head around.

Our landlord though thinks there is little to worry about, and that signings will be incoming shortly to prepare the Blues for another title run.

One player he thinks could do an excellent job for Chelsea is Italian midfield ace Riccardo Montolivo. The 32-year-old is well known to Conte and has vital experience in the middle of the park, something which the Blues could use going into this season with the Champions League back in the fold.

Montolivo is a class act and always has been. His spells with AC Milan, Fiorentina, and Atalanta have all had degrees of success, and he has been a regular for all three teams during his time there.

He could add a quality to the midfield at Stamford Bridge and bring a level head to proceedings in games when things might be getting out of hand or are closely contended.

Chelsea fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know!
