Chelsea looked to have suffered a huge blow when Antonio Rudiger was taken off in their recent defeat to Liverpool.
The 26-year-old injured his knee before being withdrawn in the first half, and there were fears that he could miss the rest of the season.
Those fears, however, have since been eased in a hugely positive development for the Blues.
The Evening Standard reports Rudiger suffered only minor damage in his knee and is set to make a return before the end of the campaign, much to the relief of his boss Maurizio Sarri.
In a season where Chelsea defenders have been making defensive errors left, right and centre, Rudiger has been consistent and arguably the west London club’s most reliable individual at the back.
By no means has the Germany international been perfect. After a brilliant start to this term, his form has had its dips.
But overall, he is one Chelsea defender who can probably look back at this season with a bit of pride.
Largely thanks to his pace, the former AS Roma man sweeps up well to stop opposition attacks, something which has been massive for a Chelsea team that have been so vulnerable on transition.
If he stops committing silly little fouls and starts to time his jumps better when defending direct balls, he could reach another level as a defender.
