Arabian billionaire targets Liverpool in astonishing £700m takeover

anfielddLiverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have high hopes for their future and their aspirations have received a monumental boost today, with reports suggesting a major takeover could be on the cards.

The Daily Star has revealed that a member of the Abu Dhabi royal family, and a relative of Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour, is targeting a £700m takeover of the Merseyside giants.

The identify of the man behind the proposed takeover remains a secret, though there is plenty of speculation, and talks began at the start of the month.

Liverpool are currently owned by American based sports company Fenway Sports Group, who purchased the Merseyside outfit in a £300m takeover back in 2010, but despite no on-field success, the Reds value has skyrocketed since.

A massive cash injection would help Liverpool compete with the Premier League’s big guns once again, and push themselves back towards the goal of becoming Champions League regulars once again, and optimistic fans in the bar believe it could be the end of their long wait for a league title.

Would this takeover put Liverpool back at the top of English football? Let us know in the comments below!
