Tony Fernandes arrived at Loftus Road last summer promising a Transfer War chest, and the recruitment of Premiership regulars such as Shaun Wright-Philips and Joey Barton looked to signal a club planning an assault on the top half of the Premiership table.
Sadly for QPR fans the season turned into a dogged relegation battle surviving only after the tensest of final days, and QPR are set on ensuring they’ll be no repeat next time out.
This positive intent is demonstrated by The Mail Online reporting The R’s are planning an audacious attempt to lure the man who fired Montpellier to the French Title to London.
Oliver Giroud is long believed to be one of Arsenal’s summer transfer targets , and the Frenchman is rumored to have a £12.8 million release clause in his contract according to The Mail. Although the club’s owner argues that his striker is worth at least £50 million.
After an impressive 26 goals last season which helped Montpellier to the French title and a place in next seasons Champions League its easy to see why QPR would be interested. What’s more difficult to understand is why the Montpellier Front man would turn his back on a place in the Champions League in favour of a club who fought a relegation battle last season.
If QPR are going to get involved in fantasy football why not make a bid for Ronaldo or Messi. Unless The R’s need to get real or they may find themselves facing another campaign languishing towards the bottom of the table watching DJ Campbell miss chance after glorious chance.
