The Transfer Tavern is in shock today with news breaking, via Sky Sports, that Hull City have accepted a £10 million from Burnley for Robert Snodgrass.
The shock is pretty palpable amongst our local punters and not with just the ones that support Hull City.
Many feel that the Tigers need Snodgrass if they are to stand a chance of staying up this season and now it looks like they really are in trouble for the rest of the campaign.
Snodgrass is the Tigers’ top scorer and top assist maker this season and so our landlord can only assume that their manager Marco Silva has someone lined up to come in and replace him.
Our Burnley fans, meanwhile, are loving the news and think signing the Scottish international would all but affirm their status as a Premier League club for next season.
It’s a move that demonstrates the financial power of even the so-called smaller clubs in the Premier League now and with Burnley impressing hugely this season, this is another feather in Sean Dyche’s cap.
Our landlord thinks it’s a great deal for the Clarets but can’t see the Tigers staying up now and it appears, neither can Twitter.
