Liverpool fans are not looking very impressed here in the Football Transfer Tavern, as Metro claim that Javier Pastore is not interested in a transfer to the Reds.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from Paris Saint-Germain for some time and we had thought we’d be seeing him in the Premier League as early as in January.
However, as our landlord notes, a move failed to materialise and the Argentine – who scored a crucial goal against Chelsea this week in the Champions League – remained at the Parc Des Princes.
Liverpool have been heavily linked with the former Palermo star, and having struggled to break into the side on a consistent basis under Laurent Blanc, we had thought a summer transfer was a certainty.
The player’s agent, Marco Simonian, noted: “He feels good with his team-mates and the staff and works every day to keep playing for PSG. He thinks only of PSG, and I can assure you that this is the truth.”
Quite if we believe what a football agent says is another matter altogether, and as our regulars note over a pint, this could either be a way to drum up more interest in the player or indeed a ploy to get a better contract or increased playing chances at PSG.
Is this potential transfer quite simply dead in the water for the Reds? Who should they switch their attentions to instead? Let us know your thoughts below.
