Interested Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been lured away from their evening pints after Metro reported that Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain has fuelled speculation about a possible summer move to Arsenal after admitting that the North London would be good fit for him.
The Argentinian international has already told Real Madrid that he plans to leave this summer and a switch to the Premier League looks likely with both Arsenal and Tottenham ready to swoop.
He today confirmed that a move to the Emirates Stadium would be something he is interested in.
The Metro reported the striker as saying: ‘There have already been offers and I hope that Madrid do the best for me and themselves,’
‘Arsenal? They would suit me, I’m still young and I have goals.
‘There are many possibilities. I want to go to a league where I’ll be put to the test.”
Arsene Wenger is seeking a proven striker this summer with Manchester United ace Wayne Rooney also thought to be on the radar but Higuain will be a cheaper option with Madrid willing to sell for about £20 million.
