Tottenham supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern are becoming increasingly frustrated with the club’s inability to sign the top class centre foward they desperately need.
Valencia forward Roberto Soldado has been repeatedly linked in the last few days and Darren Lewis from Mirror Football has popped in to the tavern to suggest that a new £22 million bid has been tabled for the 28-year-old but he also reveals to interested punters that Spurs are also targeting Lyon striker Lisandro Lopez.
Recently appointed technical director Franco Baldini was sent to Spain yesterday to hold talks to bring Soldado to White Hart Lane and the deal is understood to be close to completion but he will reportedly switch attention to France once the deal is over the line.
Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas tried to sign Lopez during the January transfer window and they are now ready to move again for the 30-year-old Argentina international.
The former FC Porto striker, who can also feature on the flank, has moved into his final year of his contract at the Stade Gerland and he told his current club that he wants to leave during the summer after failing out with manager Remi Garde.
Lopez has spent the last four years playing for the Ligue 1 side where he has found the net 82 times in his 166 appearances for Les Gones and that could also see interest from fellow French side Monaco who are looking for extra striking reinforcements.
