Manchester City fans are thinking it is all about them here in the Football Transfer Tavern today as the Daily Mail claim that new manager Manuel Pellegrini is set to return to his former side Malaga for Argentine stopper Willy Caballero this summer.
The goalkeeper has been something of a stalwart for Malaga and the 31-year-old has been simply outstanding during his time at La Rosaleda.
Current City number two Costel Pantilimon is looking to leave the the Etihad Stadium as he feels the time has finally come to accept the fact he will not oust Joe Hart from the number one spot and wants to move to a club that will offer him first team football, not just appearances in the Capital One cup.
Willy Caballero obviously knows Pellegrini well and could be tempted by the offer of a move to a new league and a new challenge. Pellegrini is determined to get a top keeper in to challenge Joe Hart and will not let the England international rest on his laurels.
Pellegrini has just seen his side miss out on Isco who joined Real Madrid yesterday and is now determined that more transfer targets will not slip through his fingers this summer – including Napoli’s Edinson Cavani who the club need to up their bids for.
