The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are eager for Pep Guardiola to improve their already-dominant team. The Citizens enjoyed an explosive season in the Premier League, and it was clear from the outset that they were some distance ahead of their rivals.
Naturally, then, you would think that further personnel improvements aren’t necessary, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Guardiola needs to continue to invest and make his team even better, and one player that could be perfect is Ousmane Dembele, who is rated at £72 million by Transfer Markt.
According to RAC1, he could be available this summer in one form or another, and even if a loan deal is all that can be agreed, it’s a deal that the Citizens cannot afford to pass up.
Despite the dominant nature of Man City’s attack, the need for further improvement is evident. A lack of depth has been a problem at points, especially with their fixture calendar only ever going to increase. Not to mention, with the departure of Yaya Toure, and David Silva already 32-years-old, it’s clear that further depth in the midfield wouldn’t be a bad thing for the club.
He’s also fairly unique in that there hasn’t really been a player like him at the club since the departure of Jesus Navas. A natural winger, he’s far better out wide than most of their current crop of players. David Silva is a brilliant passer, whilst Sane is a brilliant dribbler – but neither is able to cross from the flanks quite as well as Dembele. That’s important for any team, but it’s particularly so for Man City given how quickly they are able to counter-attack.
Dembele is the perfect candidate for Pep Guardiola to improve, too. He’s dynamic, quick and technical, and if Guardiola gets his hands on him for even a year, he’ll be a far better player.
Clearly, then, Man City would struggle to do better than Dembele as they look to improve the team further this summer.
