Arsenal eyes in the Transfer Tavern have been diverted to The Evening Standard this morning, as it’s stated a talented member of their squad is eyeing a spell away from the club.
Fortunately for the fans, the latest news concerning Gedion Zelalem merely suggests the teenage midfielder is open to returning to Rangers on-loan again next season, after impressing north of the border this year.
Zelalem scored in the shoot-out victory over Celtic in last weekend’s Old Firm semi-final of the Scottish Cup, whilst he’s been a regular for Mark Warburton’s side in the league as they secured their return to the top-flight for the first time since their liquidation in 2012.
The American youth international has featured for Arsenal’s first-team previously and is tipped for a bright future in north London but he has stated he would certainly consider another spell in Scotland.
“Firstly I’m going to go back to pre-season with Arsenal and see how I do there. If it doesn’t work out there then this is another option. I haven’t spoken to the gaffer here yet about it but I’m sure that conversation will come up.”
“This is what I wanted in football to play in these types of games and big derbies be it Arsenal v Tottenham or Rangers v Celtic. I’m living the dream and I hope to continue to do that.”
With Arsenal losing experienced trio Tomas Rosicky, Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini this summer, there is a chance Zelalem may find a space within the Gunners squad. However, our landlord feels further experience on-loan would certainly be beneficial.
