There are unsurprised faces here at the Football Transfer Tavern as it has been claimed by Sky Sports that one Arsenal player has agreed to terminate his contract with the club.
After making 153 appearances for the Gunners, Denilson has now decided it was time to leave and has seen his contract cancelled by mutual consent.
This is causing some shock here in the tavern and as one punter quips, the midfielder is still relatively young but perhaps it is fair to say that he has simply flattered to deceive on too many occasions previously.
The player has of course seen his chances limited at Arsenal and has been in Brazil on loan at Sao Paulo for the last couple of seasons. Now his agent has claimed he is no longer an Arsenal player and noted that a host of clubs were vying for his signature. He claimed: “I can confirm Denilson and Arsenal have agreed to terminate his contract at the end of this month,” Alexandre Soares told Sky Sports.
“Denilson is free to move to another club and a number of clubs are interested in him.
“I do not want to name teams, but there is interest from Brazil as well as Russia, Italy, Germany and Turkey and I am talking to them.
“No decision has been made and we will assess all offers that come our way.
“If Denilson does stay in Brazil, Sao Paulo has the priority, but I do not rule out him moving to another Brazilian club as well.”
