Arsenal ace not keen on transfer switch

vermaelen.jpgArsenal fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern have had plenty to say on possible in comings at the Emirates of late, but now John Cross of the Daily Mirror has stopped by to discuss a potential summer departure.

Club captain Thomas Vermaelen has endured a difficult season with the club, so much so that there have been rumours of a possible move away in the summer.

His dip in form has recently seen him relegated to the bench, with Arsene Wenger preferring the partnership of Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny, leaving the Belgian worried as to whether he will return to being an automatic first choice.

It is thought Wenger may be willing to listen to offers for the defender, with Barcelona reportedly interested in his services despite his indifferent season.

But Vermaelen has made it clear he wants to stay at the club next season and fight for his place.

Vermaelen was bought back into the side for the home game with Norwich City on Saturday as Mertesacker was serving a one game ban, but found himself axed once more for the visit of Everton on Tuesday evening.

But despite his poor form and lack of starts, the Belgian has made it clear he is willing to stay and fight for his place at the Emirates Stadium, and is confident of making a return to his best form next season.

Arsenal fans. Should you keep Vermaelen at the club this summer? Rate this rumour below.
