Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern realise the summer of change is likely to begin with the departure of Bacary Sagan and today Mail Online link the French defender with a possible move to Monaco.
The 30-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer, is apparently disappointed after only being offered a one-year deal by the Gunners and looks all set to leave with the club reserving fears over his long-term fitness after a string of injuries over the last few years.
The former Auxerre man has spent six years at the Emirates Stadium under Arsene Wenger who once described him as the ‘best right back of all time in Premier League’ and despite injuries and inconsistent form in the last few years his departure would act as a blow to the Gunners.
AS Monaco have the resources to offer Sagna a similar contract after being backed by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev. The mega rich owner is determined to make the recently promoted French club a key player in the European game and bringing a top quality international full-back to the club like Sagna would go some way in achieving this aim.
However they could face competition from Ligue 1 rivals Paris Saint-Germain who are also looking to splash the cash during the summer.
Should Sagna leave Arsenal could draw confidence from the fact that Carl Jenkinson has looked more assured this term and the Gunners have exciting young talent Nico Yennaris and Hector Bellerin as back-up waiting in the wings in this position.
Will Sagna move to the mega-rich French club? Rate this rumour below.
