Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern weren’t best pleased with their quiet January transfer window but they’ve raised a glass in excitement this afternoon, with reports a significant summer signing is in the bag already.
Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli has stated Arsenal have agreed a £34.6m fee with Real Madrid for the services of Isco, with the midfielder set to move to North London in the summer.
Arsenal are actively seeking midfield additions this year as they prepare for the experienced trio of Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Tomas Rosicky to depart at the end of the season, when their contracts are due to expire.
Real Madrid are happy to sell the influential Spaniard this summer but would not approve a sale in January, as Zinedine Zidane’s side did not have enough time to source an appropriate replacement.
Our landlord believes Isco would be perfect for Arsenal, particularly as a long-term replacement for the ageing Santi Cazorla, and he’s hoping that the talented midfielder will move to the Premier League this summer.
