Arsenal aim to hijack Chelsea’s deal for South American forward

CalleriArsenal and Chelsea supporters have both assembled early in the Transfer Tavern today as they prepare for their respective Champions League showdowns tonight but the current focus is regarding a tasty transfer rumour.

The landlord had to intervene and stop angry Blues fans from kicking-off with their London rivals after it was revealed that Arsenal are looking to hijack a promising looking player from under the noses of Chelsea.

Fichajes¬†states that Chelsea had already agreed a deal to sign Jonathan Calleri from Boca Juniors but Arsenal are still in the hunt for the player’s signature.

Calleri’s fame has sky-rocketed this season after he scored 21 goals for the Argentine side this season, with Inter Milan also keeping tabs on the talented 22-year-old forward.

However, it looks set to be a straight shoot-out for Calleri’s signature between London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea, who both desperately need forward recruits in the January window.

Arsenal want more depth and competition for Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott, whilst Chelsea need replacements for the faltering forward options of Diego Costa, Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao.

Gunners fans believe Champions League football could be the answer to securing the player’s signature and are confident they have the advantage in this area, believing they have the better chance of advancing this evening and that Chelsea won’t secure a top-four spot for next season.
