Arsenal fans are smiling cautiously here in the Football Transfer Tavern after Metro claim via Spanish sources that a fee has been agreed for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira.
The Gunners have reportedly agreed a £23 million fee with Real Madrid, who are willing to sell the German international for the right price.
The 27-year-old is happy enough to make the move to North London, should his weekly wages be right.
Chelsea are still keen on the former Stuttgart midfielder, but with Arsenal already agreeing a fee, we think that the Gunners may well edge ahead in the queue.
As one of our punters notes, that will all depend on Arsene Wenger and how willing he is to meet Khedira’s whopping weekly wages of £150,000-a-week.
Jose Mourinho may have already worked with Khedira at Real Madrid but one thing that may well sway Khedira to Arsenal is the presence of Mesut Ozil who is a good friend of the player and of course a fellow World Cup winner.
Arsenal fans. Do you think that you can actually beat free spending Chelsea to a player Jose Mourinho has already worked with? Let us know your thoughts below.
