Arsenal all set to complete third major summer signing

OspinaArsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are still talking about the World Cup and it looks like they will soon be signing someone who shined in the competition.

Because The Guardian are reporting that Gunners boss Arsène Wenger has agreed a £3 million deal for Colombia’s number one goalkeeper David Ospina.

The stopper, who currently plays for French side Nice, played in all of his side’s matches at the World Cup – putting in some impressive displays in the process.

Ospina will provide stiff competition for Wojciech Szczesny this season after Lukasz Fabianski’s move to Swansea City on a Bosman transfer was confirmed earlier this transfer window.

Signing a keeper was high up on Wenger ‘s list of priorities this summer having sent scouts to Brazil to keep tracks on numerous goalies.

And it now seems that the French gaffer has cut his shortlist to one and Ospina is rumoured to be arriving in North London next week.

Both Ospina and Szczesny will be hoping that Wenger now turns his attentions to bringing in defensive reinforcements to help protect the pair.

Mathieu Debuchy has already come in from Newcastle United to replace Bacary Sagna who left the Emirates Stadium in favour of a move to Manchester City.

But Wenger will have to be active for yet another defender with Thomas Vermaelen looking more and more likely to be be joining Manchester United this summer.
