Arsenal all set to finally wrap up first summer signing

Mathieu Debuchy: £5mFrance have been knocked out of the World Cup and now fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are discussing where certain players are going to be playing domestically.

Loic Remy and Mathieu Valbuena have already confirmed they are looking for new clubs this summer but it is a French defender that Arsenal are interested in.

According to Metro, Mathieu Debuchy has confirmed he is set to sign for the Gunners and reports suggest a fee of £7.9 million has been agreed with Newcastle United.

The 28-year-old is expected to feel the void left by Bacary Sagna who departed for Manchester City earlier this summer after his contract at the Emirates Stadium came to an end.

And former Lille right back Debuchy has since confirmed that he will be moving to the Emirates Stadium.

“Yes, I will be joining Arsenal for next season,” he told a reporter from TF1 television following France’s World Cup exit to Germany.

The Magpies defender is now expected in London for a medical in the next few days.
