Arsenal and Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been arguing for weeks now over who is going to win the race to sign Roma’s highly sought after defender, Kostas Manolas, however it now appears that both sets of fans could be left disappointed.
The Metro are reporting that Roma’s President, James Pallotta, has defiantly shrugged off claims that the Greek international will leave the club this summer.
According to The Metro, Pallotta said: “Why on earth should Manolas leave? Juan Jesus and Nacho are two experienced defenders who are going to help us,
“The team is working very hard for the Champions League play off stage,” he added.
The 25-year-old, who is valued at around £38m by the Italian side, reportedly turned down a move to the Emirates in 2014, opting to join Roma in the Serie A instead, however it appears that Wenger has not given up on the centre-half.
Although the quotes from Pallatto appear confident, he does not rule anything out at all and after the former Olympiakos man snubbed a new contract earlier this month, what happens next is anyone’s guess.
