Chelsea and Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been handed some exciting news today, which could lead to the two London rivals going head-to-head in the transfer market.
The Daily Mirror report that Henrikh Mkhitaryan has failed to agree a new deal with Borussia Dortmund and, with the Armenian international having just one-year remaining on his deal, the German side are likely to approve a sale.
Mkhitaryan has been in scintillating form for Thomas Tuchel’s side this season, which has put Arsenal, Chelsea and Juventus in the hunt for the player’s signature- which is likely to cost around £24m.
Dortmund had hopes of keeping the player, if they could tie him down to a new deal, but a failure to agree a new contract has increased the probability of Dortmund cashing-in on the player this summer, as they won’t want to lose him on a free transfer at the end of next season.
Whether Chelsea or Arsenal land the winger depends on the player’s Champions League demands, as if he wants to play in Europe’s elite competition then a move to Stamford Bridge would be immediately ruled out.
Will Mkhitaryan come to the Premier League this summer? Let us know in the comments below!
