It’s safe to say that Arsenal and Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern don’t get on and we have to separate them very often- and today is one example, after reports stated the two London sides are targeting the same top-striker.
Edinson Cavani, a long-term target for Arsenal, remains on Arsene Wenger’s transfer wish-list but the North London giants face a battle to secure his signature as The Metro now indicate Chelsea have joined the hunt.
The 28-year-old striker is valued very highly, at £32 million by Paris Saint-Germain, who do not want to sell, but the Uruguayan is reportedly unsettled after the devastating terrorist attacks that rocked the French capital on Friday evening.
Those fears could lead to an exit from the French giants in 2016, where the Premier League would be a favoured destination for the South American who has already made his mark elsewhere on the continent with Napoli.
His signing will not come cheaply and Chelsea’s interest in the player will likely lead to Cavan’s price-tag being driven even higher, which will concern Arsenal.
