A lot of fans here in the Transfer Tavern over the summer were crying out for their club to sign Alexandre Lacazette this summer, including those of Arsenal and Chelsea, and they’ve been given a huge boost today.
Earlier this year The Daily Express suggested Lacazette dropped a major hint that he would join the Gunners but Lyon remained firm and insisted their star-man, who scored 31 goals in all competitions last season, would not be leaving.
In August Chelsea were also linked with the striker, with Metro reporting talks between the two clubs had begun.
Neither side managed to pull-off the lucrative move, with Lacazette signing a contract extension until 2019, but the French international has now revealed he is ‘upset and disappointed’ by Lyon chairman Jean Michel Aulas, who made the details of the talks public.
The 24-year-old also stated he was hurt by manager Hubert Fournier, who he feels failed to protect his player during the pre-season.
Lacazette has faltered at the start of the season, scoring just one goal, but he’s been fighting off a niggling back injury.
