Here in the Football Transfer Tavern there is a sigh echoing around the room as it has been claimed by talkSPORT that AC Milan forward Stephan El Shaarawy is set to snub a host of Premier League teams and pen a new deal at the club.
The promising young star was a target not only for Arsenal but also for Roberto Mancini and Manchester City after putting in some brilliant performances not only for the Rossoneri but also the Italian national side to boot. After being the main star for AC in the first half of the current campaign, interest in the player has begun to grow and the club are only too aware of this.
Now forming a brilliant partnership with Mario Balotelli up top for the club, Milan chief Adriano Galliani is determined to keep hold of the player he considers to be a key part of their future. A contract is on the table which would take the player through until 2018 and see improved terms for the forward who has netted 17 times so far this season.
Despite all the interest, including Arsene Wenger publically admitting his admiration of the player, El Shaarawy is happy in Milan and the club would not even consider letting him leave unless a bid of at least £40 million came in – effectively ruling Arsenal out of that one.
