Arsenal and Liverpool midfield target rules out January transfer

xhakaArsenal and Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern this evening have been sinking a few pints to raise their spirits, after a prime January target ruled-out a move to the Premier League in the New Year.

Talksport, via Sky Deutschland, quote Borussia Mönchengladbach star Grani Xhaka as vowing to remain with the Bundesliga outfit for at least the remainder of the current campaign.

“I am under contract until 2019 here and I am really enjoying life at the club. This is all that matters to me, for the rest I’ve got my advisors and my father.

The excellent performances of the Swiss international during the season so far raised the profile of the midfielder, with Arsenal joining the hunt for his services and Liverpool having tracked the midfielder since the summer.

However, the comments from Xhaka rule out a move to the Premier League in January and the player’s content in Germany could provide problems for both English sides if they are to revisit the situation at the end of the season.

Fans at the bar have pointed out that Champions League football could be the deciding factor, with both Premier League clubs pushing to secure their place this season, looking good in the process, whilst Borussia Monchengladbach face a stern test to achieve another top-four Bundesliga finish.

Would Xhaka make Liverpool title contenders? Is he the man to bolster Arsenal’s midfield? Let us know in the comments below!
