Arsenal and Liverpool monitor Spanish talent

tello.jpgPremier League duo Arsenal and Liverpool are according to the Daily Express on high alert when it comes to the future of Barcelona’s Cristian Tello as it is claimed the player could be set for a summer move something which has caused quite a stir here at the Football Transfer Tavern.

There has been speculation over the future of Tello for some time now and despite Barcelona persuading the player to remain at the club last summer he now has only made a handful of appearances this season and could well be considering making that move after all.

Despite netting eight times this season the player has found himself more than a little on the fringes of the squad and could well be set to trigger the £8.5 million release clause in his contract.

Ironically enough, Barcelona did attempt to instil a larger release clause of £12 million last summer to prevent the risk of losing the player for free yet now due to the fact Tello has not made enough starts this season, the clause remains at the lower £8.5 million.

It is this coupled with the potential that Tello has shown when given the chance that has attracted both Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers who both wish to be kept firmly in the loop with the player’s future and where he feels it may lie. Liverpool have been long-term admirers of the player and were the club most heavily linked with the youngster this time last season.

Who will win the race to land Tello? Are the Gunners and Reds really interested in luring the Spaniard? Rate this rumour below.
