Arsenal and Manchester United fans have brought a tense atmosphere to the Football Transfer Tavern after Sky Sports revealed their target Arda Turan is keen to leave Atletico Madrid.
The Turkish international has been a key figure in Diego Simeone’s successful side in the past few years but it looks as though the 28-year-old is looking for a fresh challenge.
The forward-thinking midfielder has two years remaining on his contract but his agent, Ahmet Bulut, says he wants to leave the Vicente Calderon this summer.
“His intention is to leave Spain this summer,” Bulut told Spanish sports newspaper AS. “His will is to leave and to play in the Premier League, that is the path he would like to take to continue his career.
“We are currently in talks with three teams but I cannot reveal the names of the clubs. However, I can tell you that they are the best in England and in European football.”
He is a creative player who has plenty of experience and he has excited plenty of specatators in Spain since his £8.5m from Galatasaray in 2011.
Punters in the Tavern are unsure on why Arsene Wenger is targeting Turan because he is in need of a defensive midfielder, rather than another attacking one.
Whilst Manchester United are looking to add more of an attacking precense after they were criticized last season for being one dimensional and predictable.
