Heated discussion has broken out at the Football Transfer Tavern after a journalist from The Sun announced that Manchester United and Arsenal are both monitoring the progress of Montpellier midfielder Remy Cabella.
The Corsican playmaker, who is rated at £5 million was a main stay in Montpellier’s title winning side last season earning plaudits alongside top scorer Oliver Giroud. Giroud has already made the move from French Champions to the Emirates Stadium and the French Under-21 international may soon join up with his former team mate in North London.
Montpellier have been unable to reproduce the form of last season and sit a disappointing 13th in the Ligue 1 table which combined with their exit from the Champions League could lead to some of the teams star players departing the club.
However Montpellier President Louis Nicollin has made clear that they will not let Cabella leave on the cheap and he stated that the club is seeking ‘a fortune’ for the highly-rated central midfielder.
Nicollin told the Sun: “It will take a fortune for us to consider letting him leave us”
Cabella still has 3 years remaining on his contract at the Ligue 1 side but despite this, the gifted youngster may be ready to take on a bigger challenge in the Premier League.
