The Football Transfer Tavern is packed to the rafters this evening as punters enjoy a festive tipple in the bar.
All thoughts are on the mouthwatering top-of-the-table clash between Arsenal and Chelsea.
A win for Arsenal could put them top over Christmas while a Chelsea victory would further close the gap between the top four.
However for now attention has been brought back to the usual transfer speculation as Sky Sports reveal that Arsenal and Manchester United target Claudio Marchisio has now insisted that he has no plans to leave Juventus despite recent speculation about his future.
Recent rumours in the tavern have linked the 27-year-old Italian international with both Arsenal and Manchester United as he reportedly looked for a fresh start after spending his entire career at Juve.
The playmaker has now denied these reports after confirming that he wanted to remain with the Old Lady to secure as much silverware as much.
“I want to continue winning with this jersey, I have no intention to change,” he told JTV, the club’s official television channel.
“But every year, especially in summer, there have been rumours that involved me.
“In addition to this one, I have another two years on my deal with Juventus.
“I hope to play as long as possible with this jersey, it’s not my intention to change.”
Antonio Conte’s side are currently five points clear at the top of Serie A and despite being dumped out of the Champions League, it appears that Marchisio is still committed to the Juventus cause. News that has brought about a few disappointed faces in the tavern this evening.
Will we ever see Marchisio in the Premier League? Let us know your thoughts below.
