Arsenal and Tottenham monitoring unsettled Spaniard

Llorente-JuventusPints are being put down, burgers are being abandoned mid bite and our landlord is being surrounded with punters this evening in the Football Transfer Tavern.

This is all after he mentioned the story in the Daily Mirror that carries the claim that not one, not two, but three London giants are considering a January swoop for Fernando Llorente.

The 28-year-old Juventus forward has been struggling to settle into life in Italy – no shock given the tight, insular nature of the Basque community and Athletic Bilbao where he transferred from.

Llorente was of course prolific for Bilbao yet has struggled to break into the side at Juve and would reportedly consider his options should a better offer come along.

Now it seems that Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are all keen on the big striker – with all three clubs in need of a forward.

Spurs have the best of the bunch in the form of Roberto Soldado but are looking for another option with Andre Villas-Boas feeling that attack is one of the only areas that needs strengthening.

Chelsea’s problems have been well documented and despite the arrival of Samuel Eto’o, Mourinho would welcome some competition up top – and that does not mean Demba Ba or Fernando Torres.

We have just been discussing the link between Arsenal and Wayne Rooney yet again, and now it seems that Arsene Wenger has decided that he needs a back up option – a good job according to our barmaid who takes time out from serving to note that it was the lack of options that created a problem this summer – after the Luis Suarez disaster of course.

Will any of the London giants land Llorente in January or will he come good in Turin? Let us know your thoughts below.
