Arsenal are reportedly keen on 26-goal forward, but there’s a problem for Wenger

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for a new striker to join the club this summer…

The club seemingly want that to be the case too, with the Daily Mail noting that the Gunners are keen on Ligue 1 striker Alexandre Lacazette. Unfortunately for the club, though, there is some bad news – with the striker recently affirming to Lyon’s in-house TV channel (via the Daily Mail), that he is a fan of Atletico Madrid.

Whilst this doesn’t necessarily close the door on an Arsenal move, it certainly suggests that the Spanish outfit could be his preference, potentially leaving the Gunners in the dark regarding a move.

Arsenal’s need for a new striker this summer is pretty clear, with Olivier Giroud evidently more suited to a bit-part role – as he has proven this season. With Arsenal unlikely to feature in the Champions League next season, Arsene Wenger will need to impress domestically – and for that to be the case, he simply needs to upgrade this summer.

The attack, clearly, is an area of much-needed improvement – whilst Arsenal’s defence has also stuttered at points this season.

In truth, an entire rebuild at the Emirates is needed this summer – and news that a move for Lacazette may not be easy does not bode well for the future.
