Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang remains intrigued about the possibility of joining Spanish giants Real Madrid, according to reports in Defensa Central.
According to reports in the publication, the Gabon international has been talking to teammates Dani Ceballos and Mesut Ozil about what life at the Spanish club is like.
Aubameyang joined the Gunners in January 2018 for a then club-record fee believed to be £56m.
The Gabonese has always dreamed of playing for Real Madrid and according to the report still holds hopes of turning out in the white of the club.
Aubameyang forms one part of the dynamic duo that is himself and Alexandre Lacazette. The two combined for 50 goals and 21 assists in all competitions last season, which was more than 60% of the goals the club scored in all competitions.
The goalscoring feats of the two star forwards seem to come from an innate understanding on the pitch between the two friends, who are regularly seen joking and hanging around outside of games. Aubameyang gave an interview towards the end of last season saying that his partnership with his French counterpart was making the difference for the club.
He said: “We have the same vision about football when we talk in the dressing room, the same ideas and the same feelings. The fact that we understand each other is the thing that makes the difference in the games.” (Source: The Telegraph)
There seems to be a special understanding between the two frontmen. To lose Aubameyang will weaken Arsenal, and any hopes they have of challenging the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool in the future, especially considering the raft of attacking stars the two would have in comparison.
Aubameyang must be kept at the club for at least next season, as his relationship with Alexandre Lacazette could lead the club to something special.
