Arsenal are no strangers to facing competition for player’s signatures in the transfer market but their latest battle could be an affair that the Gunners have a strong connection with, as Everton’s new investor, who previously held shares at Arsenal, is ready to splash the cash.
Yarmolenko has been touted with a switch to the Premier League for a number of years and ahead of his venture with the Ukraine national team at this summer’s European Championships, his national boss Mykhaylo Fomenko urged him to move to England.
“If he is wanted by the top English clubs then, yes, he can show his best in the Premier League and he must do this. He is the leader of our team and leader of our squad.”
Rated at around £25m, Yarmolenko displayed his talents on the international stage earlier this week as he scored the winner against Wales in an international friendly- whilst his name is known on the continent having helped Dynamo Kiev into the last 16 of the Champions League in the past two seasons.
The highly-rated wide-man could be the final piece in the cog of Arsenal’s attacking machine, playing as part of the Gunners supporting trio alongside Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, but he’ll have far more competition for spots in north London than he would at Goodison Park.
With the Gunners able to offer Champions League football though, it could be decisive.
