It’s been a rather quiet evening in the Football Transfer Tavern but now Gavin Brown from Metro has burst into the bar to reveal that Arsenal may have found their striking solution for the rest of the season.
Brown suggests that a loan deal has been struck that will see Real Madrid young striker Alvaro Morata join the club for the rest of the season.
The 21-year-old has struggled for matches after the world record arrival of Gareth Bale at the club and he could now be allowed to leave the La Liga club as he seeks regular football at the highest level.
Tottenham have also reportedly shown some interest in the Spanish Under-21 ace but he is understood to have chosen the Gunners as the league leaders seek cover for main striker Olivier Giroud.
Earlier in the day, the Daily Star suggested that the Gunners had seen a £6.5 million bid for Corinthians striker Alexandre Pato rejected as Wenger attempted to beat Tottenham to the former AC Milan Brazilian forward.
But now these latest reports indicate that the Pato pursuit could be on hold as the long-serving French boss instead sets his sights on Madrid starlet, who made 12 appearances at the Bernabeu last season, netting twice.
Morata is highly thought of at the Madrid club but some Arsenal punters are worried if he has the experience required to fire the Gunners to the Premier League title.
Do you think the Madrid youngster will provide the goals necessary at the Emirates Stadium? Let us know your thoughts below.
