Arsenal have enjoyed a fruitful transfer window where manager Arsene Wenger has managed to add to his squad whilst keeping hold of his star players.
He’s managed to get rid of some of the deadwood in his team but moving forward, the Gunners boss needs to ensure his crop of players are ready to compete for the Premier League title this season.
Of course, it’s going to be one of the more difficult campaigns in recent years with so much money being spent on investment, especially by some of the top teams, and Wenger will have to figure out who is best players are moving forward.
And one man who’s future at the Emirates very much remains in doubt is Alexis Sanchez.
The Chilean international has been linked with a move away all summer but with the Gunners standing strong on their stance that they won’t sell, it’s left some of the Gunners fans drinking here in the bar unsure as to what the future holds for their star striker.
But it seems that manager Arsene Wenger certainly believes he’ll stay at the club and club bosses are supporting his decision not to move him on, despite the fact he only has one year left on his deal.
“The board supports me to make the decisions on a technical front,” Wenger told Sky Sports News.
“I can tell you is that he (Sanchez) is focused, and my decision is clear: he will stay and he will respect that. It is as simple as that.
“Every negotiation has to be a little bit secret. The transparency of society is very pushy but we have to resist a little bit, as much as we can. I think he will be here this season, and if we can do it for more seasons we will do it as well,” he added.
This is a difficult one for Arsene Wenger and I don’t envy him having to make a decision this big. Of course, Alexis Sanchez is one of the club’s biggest players but having one year left on your deal always leaves managers in a difficult spot, especially if the individual doesn’t want to sign on again.
But if the Chilean works hard, gives his all and really pushes himself this season then Arsenal have a chance.
And who knows, if the Gunners do win the Premier League, would he want to leave at the end of next season?
