Arsenal boss admits to missing out on Belgian striker

LukakuThe Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern are not the happiest bunch of supporters at the moment, with their season in tatters following an abysmal run of form.

Defeats in the Champions League and FA Cup have seen their quest for silverware hampered and with the Gunners currently eight points off the top of the Premier League success in that competition is looking unlikely too.

The Gunners travel north to take on Everton at Goodison Park this weekend and in the build up to the contest, boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that one of the Toffees star performers could have been an Arsenal player.

The landlord has spotted an article in The Metro, who are claiming that Wenger did in fact try to sign striker Romelu Lukaku back when he was a talented youngster at Anderlecht.

The French boss told the paper that the Gunners did look at the Belgian but that he opted to move to Chelsea rather than Arsenal, when it came to making the move.

One Arsenal fan is playing pool with his mates and he thinks the club will regret not signing Lukaku and he concedes that the club might have won the league this season had they been blessed with a striker of his ilk.

Arsenal fans, how disappointing is it to hear your boss talk about missing out on such a good player? Would you welcome Lukaku to the Emirates in the future?
